Bon Air Community Video Project
(Sponsored by Go Richmond VA)
Saturday, January 7th 9 AM to 4 PM or so
As a Bon Air resident, I have grown to love this area of Chesterfield County, and would like to give something back. My goal is to produce a one-day multi-media snapshot of this beautiful and interesting area, and we need volunteers and sponsors to make this video shoot a success.
For example, we are working with some historians of Bon Air, and will be discussing the trolley line that ended here, and other history of note. Anyone from community organizations or local government is welcome to sign up for a slot. We encourage any submission in any form such as videos, photos, text, or graphics.
This unique venture will have our team of videographers, photographers, editors, and writers spreading out through the area between 9 AM and 4 PM to film assignments, and reach out tobusinesses that may not be aware of the project. If you have multi-media skills, please let us know how you can help.
We suggest a donation of $5 for each video that is typically shot in ten minutes or less, this helps underwrite the venture, and guarantees a small business or individual a slot on the schedule.
The video may be an individual speaking about a specific idea, product, or anything newsworthy or entertaining. Some clips could be only a few seconds, longer ones might be several minutes for a musical performance. In the days following, we edit the highlights into a 30 minute episode for that date. You don't even need to be on camera, someone can narrate to photographs or other images.
Please sign up as soon as possible! In addition to walking around the area, we'll be meeting at lunchtime in a restaurant in the area to film more of the clips. Sometimes that time period can be convenient for a busy shop owner.
Go Richmond VA is an online directory of businesses, and we will be visiting neighborhoods throughout the city with a concentration of small businesses. Please contact us about coming by your area.

The Clockworks- A Great Place to Get Your Watch or Clock Repaired
I stopped in the other day to this tiny shop on Patterson Avenue just east of Libbie. The owner is charming and loves to share his knowledge of the wonderful clocks he repairs, from the Pigeon Clock in the video below, to the grandfather clocks. You step back in time when you hear all the chimes and old clocks ticking, unlike today's digital domination.
